Lockheed Martin has completed its purchase of Ultra Maritime, adding sonar systems, sonobuoys and torpedo defense technology to its anti-submarine warfare business. Ultra Maritime will become part of Lockheed Martin’s Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) business area.
The company supplies towed sonar arrays, hull-mounted sonars and sonobuoys to allied navies. Lockheed Martin said those products, along with Ultra Maritime’s international operations, would broaden the range of sonar it can offer for next-generation naval platforms.
“Securing the undersea domain starts with giving sailors the tools and confidence to find, track and deter threats that put ships and crews at risk,” said Stephanie C. Hill, president of RMS. “This is more than an acquisition — it’s a commitment to unite the best of our technology, capability and people to meet our partners’ urgent and growing demand for undersea warfare capability worldwide.”
Beyond anti-submarine warfare, the deal brings in Ultra Maritime’s radar, electronic warfare and autonomous maritime sensing products. Lockheed Martin did not disclose the financial terms.
