The deal brings Millog into Lockheed Martin’s product support provider network as Finland prepares to introduce 64 F-35A fighters. It builds on Millog’s experience maintaining ground equipment for the country’s F/A-18 Hornet fleet.
“We are delighted to embark on this cooperation with Lockheed Martin,” said Marko Kinnunen, head of Millog’s Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Business Unit. “The agreement strengthens our ability to support the Finnish Defence Forces and contributes to Finland’s security of supply by ensuring that fighter aircraft support operations can be carried out domestically.”
“The partnership builds on a strong foundation, as Millog has also been involved in maintaining ground support equipment for the Hornet fleet,” Kinnunen said. The agreement covers the equipment used to support F-35 operations on the ground.
Finland’s F-35As will replace its Hornet fleet by the early 2030s. The first aircraft were officially presented in Rovaniemi on 1 October.
The Finnish Air Force aims to begin basic missions, including surveillance and protection of territorial integrity, by the end of 2027. Full operational capability is expected in 2031.
Patria holds a 61.8% stake in Millog, whose wholly owned subsidiaries include Senop and Millog Marine & Power. The announcement did not disclose the agreement’s financial terms, duration or the other F-35 countries that might receive support.
