The Navigation Processor Module processes and distributes navigation data to combat systems, weapons and mission-planning tools. It integrates with the AN/WSN-12’s Inertial Sensor Module, which Northrop Grumman also designs and manufactures.
“Assured navigation is critical for the Navy’s surface and subsurface fleets,” said Erika Herbert, vice president of naval and oceanic systems at Northrop Grumman. “With the AN/WSN-12 in production, we’re delivering a more accurate and resilient navigation solution that helps crews safely operate and employ weapons.”
The company said AN/WSN-12 provides highly accurate, continuously available navigation data to help crews operate safely and employ weapons in all-weather conditions. The system is designed to work across a range of Navy platforms, building on the AN/WSN-7’s decades of service.
Northrop Grumman announced the award on November 2 and will continue producing processor modules for upcoming ship installations. Its wider maritime navigation portfolio includes inertial navigators, integrated bridge systems and electronic charting.
