Poland: WB Group secures over EUR 20 million deal for FlyEye drones

By Defence Industry Europe

Poland's defence company, WB Group, is significantly increasing the production of its combat-proven unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations, as well as loitering munition systems. An important customer for WB Group is the Polish Armed Forces. However, most of the production of UAVs and loitering munitions is intended for export clients, including Ukraine.

Poland’s defence procurement agency has signed a contract with WB Group for the delivery of 13 sets of FlyEye unmanned aerial vehicles, designed for intelligence and reconnaissance operations.

The contract is valued at approximately EUR 22.5 million (PLN 97.5 million), Poland’s defence procurement agency stated.

Each contracted system consists of four FlyEye drones. Therefore, the agreement includes the delivery of a total of 52 unmanned aerial vehicles to the Polish Armed Forces. Deliveries are expected to be completed by the end of this year, according to Poland’s defence procurement agency.

The contract was signed as part of a framework agreement concluded in September 2023, which covers the delivery of up to 400 sets of FlyEye drones to the Polish Armed Forces.

The FlyEye mini-class UAVs are designed for aerial image reconnaissance using optoelectronic systems equipped with cameras capable of recording images in both daylight and thermal imaging.

The system has been successfully tested by the Polish Armed Forces, performing tasks for both the Operational Forces and the Territorial Defence Forces, as well as during combat operations in Ukraine.
