Raytheon awarded USD 340 million contract for StormBreaker bombs

By Defence Industry Europe

Raytheon has secured a substantial contract with the United States Department of Defence for the production of GBU-53/B StormBreaker guided bombs. This contract, which extends to various branches of the US military and includes international customers such as Norway, Germany, Italy, and Finland, was announced in a statement by the US DoD.

The contract, valued at USD 334.6 million, is set to be completed by the end of August 2028. While the precise number of ordered bombs was not disclosed in the official statement, a previous contract in March 2023 worth USD 320 million for 1,500 GBU-53/B StormBreaker bombs provides an insight into the expected volume of production under the new agreement.

To date, Raytheon has delivered over 3,000 StormBreaker bombs to the US Department of Defence, with the first batch also supplied to Australia.
