The contract, valued at USD 334.6 million, is set to be completed by the end of August 2028. While the precise number of ordered bombs was not disclosed in the official statement, a previous contract in March 2023 worth USD 320 million for 1,500 GBU-53/B StormBreaker bombs provides an insight into the expected volume of production under the new agreement.
To date, Raytheon has delivered over 3,000 StormBreaker bombs to the US Department of Defence, with the first batch also supplied to Australia.
The GBU-53/B StormBreaker, known for its precision and advanced targeting capabilities, is currently integrated with the F-15E Strike Eagle, F-15EX Eagle II, and F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter aircraft.
Ongoing efforts are being made to integrate the StormBreaker bomb with additional platforms including the F-16, F-22A, and F-35 aircraft, with completion anticipated in the upcoming months.
