RENK and QinetiQ partner to develop future military mobility solutions

The RENK Group, a leading supplier of propulsion solutions for military and civilian use, has signed a strategic partnership with global defense and security company QinetiQ. The collaboration aims to jointly develop advanced mobility concepts for military land platforms, focusing on weight classes ranging from 5 to 60 tons.

 

The partnership will prioritize hybridization technologies and uncrewed ground vehicles (UGVs), which are seen as key growth areas in the defense sector. “This cooperation with QinetiQ strengthens our technological leadership and positions us well to meet increasing customer demand for armored mobility,” said Susanne Wiegand, CEO of RENK Group AG.

Dr. Alexander Sagel, COO of RENK, highlighted the growth potential in the market for UGVs, particularly uncrewed tracked vehicles up to 20 tons, which offer diverse tactical applications.

Steve Wadey, CEO of QinetiQ, expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing the synergy between RENK’s expertise in military land systems and QinetiQ’s advanced mobility technology.

Under the agreement, RENK will contribute its experience in gear technologies and system solutions, while QinetiQ will provide expertise in autonomy and manoeuvrability. The collaboration will be guided by a research and development roadmap, focusing on future military mobility needs.
