Repkon USA expands defence manufacturing capabilities with acquisition of GD-OTS Garland facility

By Defence Industry Europe

Repkon USA has announced the acquisition of General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems' Garland Operations, a move aimed at expanding its manufacturing capabilities in the defence and aerospace sectors. The newly acquired 38-acre facility, located north of Dallas, Texas, specialises in producing metal components for military and aerospace applications.

The acquisition marks a significant step in Repkon USA’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the U.S. defence market and enhance its support for the Department of Defense and allied forces. Bryan Van Brunt, President of Repkon USA, said: “This strategic acquisition by Repkon USA provides us with a large-scale heavy manufacturing footprint where we can implement advanced manufacturing techniques.”

He added: “The personnel and staff at the Garland Operations facility are exceptional and we are thrilled to bring them into Repkon USA.” This integration highlights Repkon USA’s continued investment in skilled talent and technological innovation across its operations.

The Garland acquisition follows a series of strategic developments by the company aimed at reinforcing the U.S. and European defence industrial bases. These include the upcoming acquisition of McCormick Stevenson Corporation, expected to close in May, which will boost Repkon USA’s engineering and programme management capabilities.

In addition, Repkon USA recently became a key partner in a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with BAE Systems UK and Türkiye’s Repkon Holdings A.S, signed at the International Defense Exposition (IDEX) in February. The agreement focuses on cooperation in the areas of munitions and energetics, underlining Repkon’s growing international role.

In November 2024, Repkon USA was awarded a $435 million contract to build the first TNT production facility in the U.S. in decades, located in Graham, Kentucky. The company also secured a contract to design and construct a production line for 155mm artillery combustible cartridge cases in Texarkana, Texas.
