The last batch, as revealed in a company-released video, included at least four T-90M tanks. These vehicles feature additional protective measures against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale military aggression in Ukraine, over 100 modifications have been made to their tanks. Enhancements include protective mesh against drones, rubber shielding, and reinforced protection for critical systems such as the drivetrain and suspension.
Additionally, the upgraded tanks are equipped with features aimed at reducing detection and advanced electronic warfare systems to counter UAVs. However, the exact number of tanks delivered remains undisclosed. Analysts estimate that Uralvagonzavod supplied approximately 280 tanks to the Ministry of Defence in 2024, including around 200 modernised T-72B3s and between 60 and 80 newly produced T-90Ms.
It is worth noting that earlier reports suggested some T-90M units might have been produced by rebuilding older T-90 and T-90A chassis. The deliveries reflect ongoing efforts by Russian manufacturers to adapt to battlefield demands amid ongoing conflict, with a focus on increasing survivability and operational effectiveness of their armoured units.
