Northrop Grumman unveils next-generation M230LF Dual Feed Bushmaster Chain Gun

Northrop Grumman has announced the release of its latest innovation in medium-calibre weaponry, the M230 Link Fed (M230LF) Dual Feed Bushmaster Chain Gun.

The Australian Government has announced a new AUD$45 million contract with Thales Australia to acquire an additional 15 Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles (PMVs). The contract was revealed by the Minister for Defence Industry, Pat Conroy MP, highlighting the significance of advanced vehicle manufacturing in Bendigo, Victoria.

The Australian Government has announced a new AUD$45 million contract with Thales Australia to acquire an additional 15 Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles (PMVs).

FN Herstal’s deFNder Medium remote weapon station can be fitted with FN machine guns – including FN Herstal’s exclusive fast firing (1,100 rpm) .50 Cal (12.7x99mm NATO) FN M3R -, or 40mm HV AGL. Thanks to its modular architecture this proven remote gun turret can be adapted for a very wide range of applications such as static positions, manned or unmanned ground vehicles, and naval vessels. It is now possible to order the deFNder Medium configured for a Northrop Grumman M230LF 30x113mm cannon, or a reversible conversion kit to upgrade existing RWS, FN Herstal said in a press release.

The deFNder Medium equipped with the 30mm cannon is exceptionally low profile (< 80cm) and light (300 kg with gun and 50 rounds) compared to other similar systems.

Australia has signed a contract for 78 Bushmaster protected vehicles for 160 million Australian dollars ($106 million) in order to replenish stockpiles sent to Ukraine for its conflict with Russia. The agreement was signed at Thales' facility in Bendigo, with deliveries of the Bushmasters in troop carrier and command variants scheduled over the next 18 months.
