NATO ISR Force expands capabilities with first live diversion to Trapani Air Base

NATO Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Force (NISRF) successfully conducted its first live diversion to Trapani Air Base, Italy, on 10 December 2024.

Following decisions taken at the Washington Summit, national armaments directors have agreed on a strategy to enhance NATO’s Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Force (NISRF) with additional capabilities. The agreement taken on 09 July 2024 by the Conference of National Armaments Directors (CNAD) will provide more Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities to better support the NISRF.

Through the NISRF, Allies cooperate closely to collect, analyse and share intelligence data across all domains, including space.

NATO’s Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Force (NISRF) has provided real-world data for Alliance decision makers for five years. During exercise Nordic Response, the Force’s RQ-4D remotely piloted aircraft provides this unique support enhancing multinational training in the High North.
