The NATO Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Force, or NISRF, operated the Phoenix throughout the Enhanced Vigilance Activity, which formed part of Arctic Sentry. Its persistent collection contributed to the shared operational picture and supported commanders across an area involving Allied maritime, air and joint forces.
NISRF used the RQ-4D capability to deliver timely intelligence products for operational planning, situational awareness and decision-making. NATO said the persistent ISR coverage allowed commanders to execute complex multi-domain operations in a dynamic operational environment.
Neptune Strike 26-3 was led by Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO, or STRIKFORNATO. The activity was designed to strengthen Allied interoperability, readiness and multi-domain operations in the High North and North Atlantic.
“Neptune Strike once again demonstrated the value of persistent, multinational ISR in supporting NATO operations. Every mission strengthens our interoperability with Allied forces while reinforcing our ability to deliver the timely intelligence commanders need to make informed decisions,” said Brigadier General John B. Creel, Commander of the NATO Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Force.
“Through its continued contributions to major Alliance activities, NISRF has established itself as a trusted and reliable ISR capability, ensuring the Force remains ready to support the Alliance’s operational requirements today and well into the future.” The RQ-4D Phoenix provides the airborne collection element supporting that persistent strategic ISR capability.
NISRF said continued participation in NATO exercises and enhanced vigilance activities is strengthening its readiness, interoperability and operational experience. Each mission also supports the Force’s progression towards Full Operational Capability.
The Neptune Strike deployment highlighted the RQ-4D Phoenix’s role in maintaining persistent surveillance while feeding intelligence into NATO’s wider operational picture. NISRF said the capability is intended to remain responsive to Alliance ISR requirements across multiple operational environments.
