U.S. Army ordered to transform into leaner, more lethal force under new defence directive

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has issued a directive to senior Pentagon leaders calling for an accelerated transformation of the Army to meet the demands of modern warfare.

At the Pentagon on 17 April, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth met with French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu to discuss key issues related to defence and European security.

At the Pentagon on 17 April, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth met with French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu to discuss key issues related to defence and European security.

On February 7, the United States announced the approval of a USD 10 billion sale of M142 HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) launchers to Poland. The package includes also ATCMS (Army Tactical Missile System) missiles and others types of HIMARS weapons. "The great reinforcement of the Polish artillery is getting closers," Polish defence minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on Twitter. "We are starting price negotiations."
