Textron Systems Corporation has announced the launch of its TSUNAMI family of autonomous maritime surface vessels. The innovative fleet aims to meet the operational needs of the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, offering a cost-effective, flexible, and rapidly deployable solution for multi-mission uncrewed maritime operations.

The TSUNAMI series integrates Textron Systems’ 40 years of expertise in autonomous vehicles with the advanced design and manufacturing capabilities of the U.S. commercial shipbuilding sector. Built in partnership with Brunswick Corporation, these vessels leverage proven CUSV®-based autonomy systems and high-performance hull designs.

The TSUNAMI family is designed for ease of operation and maintenance, running on gasoline to simplify logistics and reduce costs. With a payload capacity of 1,000 pounds (453.6 kilograms), the vessels are currently available in 24-, 25-, and 28-foot variants. These models are capable of operating in up to Sea State 4, with ranges spanning 600 to over 1,000 nautical miles, and are already in high-volume production.

David Phillips, Senior Vice President of Air, Land and Sea Systems at Textron, highlighted the company’s unique multi-domain expertise. “By combining our knowledge with Brunswick’s shipbuilding capabilities, we deliver affordable, scalable maritime force strength for our Department of Defense and allied customers,” he said.

With scalability to larger vessel sizes and higher production volumes, the TSUNAMI family represents a significant advancement in autonomous maritime technology, reinforcing Textron’s commitment to innovation in defence capabilities.
