Announced October 9, the contract falls under Block III of the Army’s Range Radar Replacement Program. It extends the Danish company’s instrumentation radar portfolio into C-band while maintaining a common product baseline.
The new radars will add spectrum options and support legacy C-band transponders. Weibel said these features would give operators greater flexibility in increasingly complex test environments.
The design draws on the company’s experience in digital beamforming, target tracking, signal processing and test-range instrumentation. Those capabilities underpin the tracking and measurement work required to assess defense systems.
“This award represents an important milestone for both the U.S. Army and Weibel,” said Jeremy Wilch, president and CEO of Weibel Scientific North America. He said the C-band offering builds on decades of experience supplying X-band radars for military testing.
“For decades, Weibel’s X-band instrumentation radars have supported some of the world’s most demanding test and evaluation missions. With RRRP Block III, we are extending that expertise with a family of C-band systems that will expand range capabilities, increase spectrum flexibility, and help ensure America’s test ranges remain ready to support future defense technologies.”
The award adds a new frequency-band capability alongside the Army’s existing Weibel equipment. The announcement did not disclose the contract value, delivery schedule or which test ranges would receive the radars.
