Senior military leaders from the United States, Ukraine and European partner nations will gather for the first LANDEURO Symposium and Exposition on 16–17 July in Wiesbaden, Germany. Organised by the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA), the event aims to explore how land forces are evolving amid growing global security challenges.

This inaugural symposium, themed “Transformation in Contact: Integrating Industry, the U.S. Army, and Allies for Global Deterrence”, will feature keynote speeches, high-level panels and more than 80 exhibits. Participants will focus on topics such as modern threats in Europe, the war in Ukraine, military innovation, and cooperation between allies and industry.

LANDEURO will begin with opening remarks from Gen. Christopher Donahue, commanding general of U.S. Army Europe and Africa. A subsequent panel, “World War Next—The Interconnected Global Threat,” will include Lt. Gen. Pasi Välimäki of Finland and Air Vice-Marshal Dianne Turton of Australia, who will examine deterrence strategies in a complex world.

The panel “Magazine Depth Wins Wars—The Future of NATO’s Arsenal” will highlight lessons from Ukraine’s war and stress the importance of co-production of munitions and key systems. Lt. Gen. Miles Brown, deputy commanding general of U.S. Army Futures Command, will be among the featured speakers.

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, will deliver a keynote address focused on battlefield innovation and digital modernisation. A later session will include Lt. Gen. Curtis Buzzard discussing Ukraine’s rapid military adaptations, followed by Brig. Gen. Curtis King on advancements in air and missile defence.

Day two opens with the panel “Breaking the Kill Chain—Multi-Domain Operations Against Anti-Access/Area Denial,” led by Brig. Gen. Steven Carpenter of the 7th Army Training Command. Further discussions will cover Ukrainian innovation and reforms to Foreign Military Sales, with input from Maj. Gen. John Rafferty of the 56th Artillery Command.

The final session, “Updating the Arsenal of Democracy: Co-Production With Allies,” will bring together officials including Patrick Mason of the U.S. Army and Eva Hagwall of Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration. It will focus on collaborative production of essential military systems with NATO allies.

Throughout LANDEURO, Warriors Corner presentations will address subjects such as Eastern Flank sustainment, non-commissioned officer development, Arctic readiness and allied warfighting capabilities. AUSA will also host a Leadership Forum for 100 soldiers and a Generation Next Forum for young professionals.

“We are thrilled to host AUSA’s inaugural LANDEURO Symposium and Exposition in Wiesbaden, Germany, this summer,” said retired Gen. Bob Brown, AUSA president and CEO. “The U.S. Army has a vital role supporting America’s allies and partners in Europe while deterring our nation’s adversaries.”

He added, “We look forward to bringing together the U.S. Army and its partners in Europe to delve into how land forces in the region are transforming for the future fight while building stronger ties and collaboration.”
