Poland and South Korea have signed a third executive contract under the Homar-K programme to enable the local production of CGR-080 precision-guided rockets in Poland. The agreement was concluded in Warsaw and forms part of a broader framework for supplying the Polish Armed Forces with Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers and ammunition.

The contract, worth about PLN 14 billion, was signed between the State Treasury represented by the Armament Agency and a consortium led by Hanwha WB Advanced Systems Sp. z o.o., together with Hanwha Aerospace. It provides for the delivery of thousands of 80 km-range CGR-080 rockets, which will be manufactured in Poland, with deliveries due to start in 2030.

The signing took place at the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw and was attended by senior Polish and South Korean officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. The agreement was signed by Major General Artur Kuptel, head of the Armament Agency, Hanwha Aerospace Chief Executive Son Jae-il and WB Group President Piotr Wojciechowski.

Kosiniak-Kamysz said the deal strengthened bilateral ties and industrial independence, stating: “Friends, Polish-Korean friendship is once again being confirmed through our mutual relations and agreements, as well as through very constructive talks and their culmination, which is today’s executive agreement within the Homar-K programme (…).” He added: “We continue to acquire further systems by signing subsequent contracts, and today we are building something that has always been our ambition. We are also building production independence.”

Son Jae-il described the project as a strategic partnership rather than a simple procurement, saying: “This initiative represents far more than just a weapons system. It is a symbol of a lasting alliance and tangible defence capabilities of Poland and Korea.” He added that Hanwha “is becoming an integral part of Poland’s defence industrial base and will continue to strengthen this partnership by delivering both enhanced security and tangible economic value to Poland.”

The contract builds on two earlier agreements signed in 2022 and 2024 for the delivery of Homar-K launchers and rocket ammunition with ranges of up to 290 km. The HOMAR-K system is based on South Korea’s K239 Chunmoo launcher, adapted to Polish requirements and mounted on a Jelcz chassis.
