U.S. Central Command has released unclassified footage showing an M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System launching ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles toward targets in Iran during Operation Epic Fury. The video provides a rare official glimpse of ground-launched deep-strike capabilities employed in the early phase of a major U.S.-led operation conducted alongside partner forces.

L3Harris Technologies has been awarded a contract valued at more than $65 million to produce solid rocket motors for the U.S. Army’s Army Tactical Missile System. The agreement supports continued production of propulsion components for the long-range guided missile system.

Under the contract, L3Harris will manufacture, test and deliver M124 rocket motors along with igniters, exit cones and associated components. Deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2027 and 2028.

The Army Tactical Missile System is a combat-proven long-range precision weapon used by U.S. and allied forces. The contract reflects ongoing demand for propulsion systems supporting operational readiness.

Scott Alexander, President of Missile Propulsion within Missile Solutions at L3Harris, said: “L3Harris remains focused on delivering advanced propulsion solutions to meet the needs of the ATACMS program.” He added: “These contracts demonstrate our ongoing commitment to equip the U.S. Army and allied forces with reliable, combat-proven missile technology that enhances operational readiness.”

L3Harris has supported the ATACMS program for more than 30 years. Its production activities are centered in Camden, Arkansas, where the company manufactures a wide range of solid rocket motors.

The Camden facility produces more than 115,000 rocket motors annually and conducts over 6,000 hot-fire tests each year. The site is currently undergoing expansion, with more than 20 new advanced propulsion facilities being developed to meet rising demand.

In addition to propulsion systems, L3Harris produces ATACMS arm and firing devices at its facility in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company said the contract reinforces its role in supporting U.S. Army missile programs and broader defense requirements.
