The Mayhem 10 carries a modular payload of up to 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) and supports interchangeable lethal and non-lethal effects, including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), electronic warfare, communications relay, and precision strike. The system offers an operational range of up to 100 kilometers, 50 minutes of endurance, and can be assembled and prepared for launch in under five minutes.
Wahid Nawabi, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer at AeroVironment, described the system as a step change in battlefield capability. “MAYHEM 10 sets a new standard for operational versatility and survivability on the modern battlefield,” he said.
Nawabi elaborated on the system’s strategic value for commanders. “By integrating advanced autonomy, multi-domain payloads, and rapid adaptability, we empower our forces to sense, disrupt, and strike with precision — even in the most contested environments. This breakthrough allows commanders to extend their reach, accelerate decision-making, and maintain superiority without putting crews or high-value assets at unnecessary risk,” he added.
The Mayhem 10 is built using a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA), enabling seamless upgrades and third-party payload integration. The system is controlled through AeroVironment’s Tomahawk Grip controller and AV_Halo COMMAND interface, supporting networked, distributed, and scalable employment — either individually or in collaborative swarms executing multiple effects in parallel.
Brian Young, Senior Vice President of Loitering Munitions at AeroVironment, highlighted the system’s capacity for coordinated operations. “MAYHEM 10 changes how forces generate combat power by enabling collaborative swarm operations at scale,” he said. “Operators can employ multiple systems to work collaboratively — expanding coverage, overwhelming defenses, and executing synchronized effects across the battlespace — without increasing platform risk or force concentration,” he added.
Advanced autonomy is powered by an AI-driven processor, enabling effective operations in environments where GPS signals are jammed, spoofed, or otherwise denied. Secure navigation and communications are provided by M-Code GPS and a Silvus datalink, while a MANET secure mesh network ensures robust command-and-control links with a range of 25 to 40 kilometers.
AeroVironment has not disclosed the unit price of the Mayhem 10, but has confirmed it is establishing a production line with a capacity of 2,000 units per year. The U.S. Army has been identified as the primary intended customer for the system.
