Allison Transmission has announced an $80.6 million contract to supply X1100 cross-drive transmissions for the Abrams main battle tank programme in 2025. The agreement includes the provision of upgraded and new transmissions for the U.S. Army and Foreign Military Sales customers, ensuring the latest tank variants are fully equipped with cutting-edge technology.
The contract supports transmission production at the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center (JSMC) in Lima, Ohio, a key site for tank manufacturing. Additionally, overhaul and repair activities will be facilitated through kits purchased by the Integrated Logistics Support Center (ILSC) for use at Anniston Army Depot.
“This award underscores our ongoing commitment to the U.S. Army and our international allies,” said Dana Pittard, Vice President for Defence Programmes at Allison Transmission. “We remain dedicated to delivering excellence and advancing the Abrams programme for years to come.”
The contract includes new transmissions and repair kits, offering significant cost savings by delivering upgraded units with zero mileage on critical components. Alongside technical support, the agreement ensures the maintenance of essential drawings and technical data packages for system upkeep.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2025, reinforcing Allison’s role as a trusted partner in enhancing the performance and reliability of the Abrams main battle tank.
