American Rheinmetall has announced a strategic $41 million capital investment initiative across its U.S. manufacturing operations in Michigan, Ohio and Maine. The company said the effort is intended to expand production capacity, modernize manufacturing infrastructure, strengthen domestic supply chain resilience and accelerate delivery timelines for critical U.S. defense modernization programs.

The investments build on American Rheinmetall’s existing U.S. manufacturing footprint. The company said it will use established facilities, skilled workforce capabilities, validated production processes and current supplier networks to deliver immediate operational impact in support of national defense priorities.

Key programs supported through the initiative include the U.S. Army’s XM30 Combat Vehicle, Mobile Tactical Cannon, Common Tactical Truck and Common Autonomous Multi-Domain Launcher. The investments will also support missile, subsystem and combat mobility component production.

“At a time when speed, scalability, and certainty are paramount, expanding existing capabilities provides a decisive advantage,” said Matt Warnick, CEO, American Rheinmetall. “These investments reflect our long-term commitment to supporting the U.S. Warfighter and strengthening the domestic defense industrial base. By modernizing and expanding proven infrastructure already in place, we are positioned to respond faster, scale production more effectively, and deliver the critical systems and components needed to meet evolving national security demands.”

American Rheinmetall said about $12 million of the investment has already been executed through completed equipment installations and facility upgrades. A further $26 million is being deployed through ongoing equipment procurements, automation initiatives, facility modernization efforts and manufacturing expansion projects.

The remaining investments are scheduled for implementation later this year. The company said its strategy prioritizes expansion and modernization of existing operations rather than construction of entirely new facilities.

American Rheinmetall said this approach significantly reduces time-to-production while maintaining the quality, reliability and execution certainty required for mission-critical defense systems. The investments are designed to support rapid production ramp-up for artillery, combat and tactical wheeled vehicle platforms and components.

The initiative is also intended to increase manufacturing throughput and expand production capacity for critical combat vehicle structures and mobility systems. The company said it will also enhance precision manufacturing capability for missile-related work and subsystem integration.

The investment plan includes a new Dynomec 65-foot bridge mill manufactured by FPT and a large-format machining center capable of machining complete vehicle hull structures. American Rheinmetall said the machine is intended to position the company to support future production requirements for the Army’s XM30 combat vehicle program if it receives a production contract.

Additional equipment includes a Kapp ZE 800 Gear Grinder to improve precision manufacturing capability for combat vehicle final drive systems. The company is also adding two FPT Dinox 350 five-axis machining centers to expand complex machining throughput and manufacturing flexibility.

American Rheinmetall said it is upgrading its turret build center to support advanced combat vehicle integration work. It is also adding new Coordinate Measuring Machine inspection equipment and establishing an advanced inspection laboratory to strengthen metrology and product validation capability.

Other investments include two Stinger 180 five-axis machining centers for precision missile-related manufacturing. Cure presses, build machines, defense track and wheel equipment upgrades and automation improvements will support dual-use commercial and defense rubber track production lines.

The company said its expanded manufacturing footprint directly supports U.S. defense modernization objectives. Programs such as the Mobile Tactical Cannon require the ability to move rapidly from prototyping into sustained production environments.

American Rheinmetall said the XM30 Combat Vehicle, Common Tactical Truck and Common Autonomous Multi-Domain Launcher programs benefit from manufacturing operations that are already active, workforce-ready and integrated into the U.S. defense industrial base. “Modernization is not just about innovation — it’s about execution,” added Matt Warnick. “Our investments ensure that capability and capacity move forward together, aligned with customer timelines, operational requirements, and long-term readiness objectives.”

The company said it continues to prioritize engagement with small business suppliers and regional manufacturing partners. This is intended to strengthen domestic sourcing networks and improve supply chain resilience.

American Rheinmetall said the investment strategy is designed to expand internal capability and contribute broader industrial base capacity for long-term defense readiness and national security objectives. By building on existing infrastructure, the company said it is delivering scalable, low-risk manufacturing solutions that support current operational requirements while remaining adaptable to future defense needs.

The Rheinmetall family of U.S. companies includes American Rheinmetall locations in Auburn Hills, Michigan; Biddeford, Maine; Lansing, Michigan; Lapeer, Michigan; Plymouth, Michigan; St. Marys, Ohio; and Vienna, Virginia. It also includes American Rheinmetall Munitions operations in Camden, Arkansas; Texarkana, Texas; Windham, Maine; and Vienna, Virginia.
