Recent orders include NLAW support weapons for France, another Carl-Gustaf M4 contract for Lithuania and a vehicle training system for the U.S. Army. Johansson said the awards were backed by a broader pipeline that includes both smaller contracts and several larger opportunities.
“It’s a bit lumpy in sort of when the contracts come in. Lots of small contracts, but also a few big ones in the pipeline,” Johansson said during Saab’s second-quarter 2026 earnings call.
“A few to mention are during this quarter is, of course, the NLAW support weapon to France and also another Carl-Gustaf M4 to Lithuania and a vehicle training system to the U.S. Army,” Johansson said. He described those awards as important contracts supporting the underlying Dynamics pipeline.
Saab is expanding the portfolio at the same time, including a new missile for its RBS 70 air-defence system. The company has also launched a new ammunition type for Carl-Gustaf.
“We have a new missile for the RBS 70 system. We have a new ammunition type for the Carl-Gustaf that we’ve launched,” Johansson said.
Another addition is a camouflage product designed for individual soldiers. Johansson described it as “a camouflage net type of product, a poncho for a soldier that is really taking effect now in the market.”
The combination of existing programmes and new products is translating into higher activity at Dynamics. Johansson said the business recorded good deliveries and 36% quarter-on-quarter growth, while Saab intends to continue investing in the division.
The scale of the backlog gives Dynamics visibility over a large volume of future work despite fluctuations in quarterly order intake. Johansson said first-half orders were SEK 5 billion below the comparable period a year earlier, but said the decline did not concern him because of the pipeline and timing of contracts.
“That doesn’t worry me at all because I know the pipeline and timing on contracting,” Johansson said. “They have a lot in the backlog, SEK 80 billion plus, so there are lots of deliveries, so they should do numbers like this.”
