Anschütz will deliver WINBS including multifunctional consoles for warship electronic chart display and information systems, naval radars, as well as additional navigation equipment and integrated steering gear control systems for the first batch of three Hunter class frigates. The scope also entails the integration with a customer-specific combat management system, customised engineering, program management, documentation and training.
Anschütz will leverage experience gained from the integration of WINBS into the Type 26 frigates currently under construction in the UK, as well as from the radar replacement program for the RAN’s Anzac class.
“We are grateful for the trust placed in us by both the Commonwealth and BAE Systems Australia”, said André Moritz, Country Manager for Australia. “We are honoured and motivated to continue our excellent cooperation and provide the new Hunter class with a world-leading naval navigation solution that meets every expectation.”
In 2022, Anschütz secured an initial contract to provide systems design engineering and requirements verification work for the Hunter- program.
Under the contract, Anschütz is going to expand cooperation with Australian industry in the areas of engineering, production and maintenance. Expanded cooperation with Australian industry would result in a substantial amount of the total contract value flowing through to Australian companies.
Working with Australian industry will also ensure the transfer of technology and knowledge to Australia’s shipbuilding workforce.
WINBS represent a proven, highly functional and effective naval navigation solution. They are based on an IMO-compliant integrated navigation system with an embedded open architecture platform that integrates and processes data from all sensors and systems. Multifunctional consoles are fully networked and allow access to every function as well as a consistent maritime picture from any place at any time through modern, standardised user interfaces.
Equipment-agnostic, WINBS also allow for the integration of sensors and systems on customer request in order to meet special mission requirements or fleet commonality requirements.
Anschütz is one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of navigation systems and integrated bridge systems for naval platforms and commercial vessels. With decades of experience in customised naval system integration, Anschütz also provides advanced WINBS to the UK Royal Navy Type 26 and Type 31 new build programmes, among others.
