The solution includes Bittium Tough SDR Vehicular and Handheld radios, software, and accessories, designed to support command and control in demanding battlefield environments. “We are honored to start collaboration with a new European customer,” said Tommi Kangas, Senior Vice President of Bittium’s Defense & Security business segment.
The radios will be delivered alongside tactical waveforms, including the ESSOR High Data Rate Waveform, and Voice over IP solutions, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performance communications. “Our customer is a forerunner in its dedication to technological advancement and this cooperation underscores our commitment to provide modern tactical communications solutions that are made for the highly demanding needs of the battlefield,” Kangas added.
The Bittium Tough SDR product family includes handheld radios for dismounted soldiers and vehicular radios for mounted operations. These radios provide real-time situational awareness across all levels of command, enhancing troop effectiveness and operational decision-making.
The system supports a wide range of frequency bands and multiple waveforms, including simultaneous operation, enabling flexible and interoperable communication. The radios are also compatible with NATO-standardised waveforms, allowing communication between multinational forces.
When integrated with the Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network (TAC WIN), the solution forms a broadband mobile IP backbone for battlefield communications. This enables the delivery of high-speed data and resilient voice services to all mobile units in the field.
