The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has held a working meeting with Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH, a key German defence company already active in Ukraine. The delegation was led by CEO Dr. Björn Bernhard and welcomed by Deputy Ministers of Defence Valerii Churkin and Sergiy Boev.

The talks focused on ongoing and future joint projects aimed at boosting Ukraine’s military capabilities. Particular attention was given to Ukrainian-German ventures tasked with the repair and maintenance of foreign-supplied military equipment.

The meeting also addressed the potential for partner-led training programmes to enhance Ukrainian expertise in technical maintenance. These initiatives aim to improve the long-term resilience and self-sufficiency of Ukraine’s defence sector.

“Ukraine is interested in expanding its cooperation with allies in the defence industry,” said Deputy Minister Valerii Churkin. “The localisation of defence enterprises in Ukraine and the production of modern weaponry to high technological standards remain a critical priority for strengthening our nation’s defence.”

Dr. Bernhard reaffirmed Rheinmetall’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defence goals through technological cooperation and on-the-ground partnerships. The company was one of the first to establish localised production in Ukraine, signalling deepening trust between the two sides.
