Denmark has requested the purchase of 339 M982A1 Excalibur tactical projectiles. These precision-guided munitions are designed to improve the accuracy of Denmark’s military strikes. In addition to the projectiles, the sale includes Portable Electronic Fire Control Systems (PEFCS), Improved Platform Integration Kits (iPIK), Simple Key Loaders (SKLs), extractors, Surface Danger Zones (SDZs), spare parts, and training for new equipment. The package also encompasses U.S. Government technical assistance, technical data, repair and return services, and other logistical support.
This proposed sale aligns with the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by enhancing the security of Denmark, a key NATO ally. The acquisition of these projectiles will significantly improve Denmark’s ability to address current and future threats, particularly by boosting the precision and accuracy of its military brigades. Denmark is expected to integrate these systems into its armed forces without difficulty.
The estimated cost of USD 121 million is based on the highest anticipated quantity and support requirements. The final cost may be lower, depending on Denmark’s final requirements, budget allocations, and the details of the signed sales agreement, should the deal proceed.
