By Defence Industry Europe

The French Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) has recently completed a test flight showcasing the new capabilities of the Mirage 2000D RMV aircraft. The focus of this test was the Talios targeting pod, a significant addition to the aircraft's arsenal.

Conducted by DGA Flight Test (DGAEV) from the Cazaux site in a maritime zone, the test involved a series of firing runs that simulated operational scenarios. The objective was to measure the impact of shocks and vibrations experienced by an instrumented model of the Talios designation pod during cannon firing campaigns on the Mirage 2000D, which has undergone a mid-life upgrade.

The Talios pod, developed by Thales, is part of the new configuration of the Mirage 2000D RMV. It is equipped with advanced capabilities such as laser-guided air-to-ground weapon guidance, long-distance damage assessment, and target reconnaissance. This integration marks a significant enhancement in the operational versatility and capability of the Mirage 2000D.
