The demonstration, conducted in early September 2026, followed a cooperation agreement signed at ILA Berlin in June. It assessed the system’s range, endurance, autonomous targeting and integration with other unmanned aircraft.
SkyStriker completed a control handover at a distance of 80 kilometres during the event. The munition was launched from a canister before conducting reconnaissance, tracking and a successful strike against a prepared target.
The companies also demonstrated cooperation between SkyStriker and the SkyLark 1 eVTOL reconnaissance drone. The connection is designed to support “Seek & Strike” operations within wider intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance networks.
SkyStriker is an electrically powered loitering munition designed for precision strikes over distances exceeding 200 kilometres. It can remain airborne for more than two hours, allowing operators to search for and track targets before engagement.
The electric propulsion system gives SkyStriker a low acoustic and thermal signature. Its high-resolution video capability and autonomous tracking are intended to support precise attacks while limiting collateral damage.
SkyStriker can be launched from ground vehicles, containers and aircraft. It can also be integrated with the EuroPULS rocket artillery system, making it relevant to Germany and other European operators considering mobile long-range strike capabilities.
“The successful demonstration confirms the technological maturity and enormous versatility of the SkyStriker system,” said Gunnar Pappert, Head of the Army Systems Product Division at Diehl Defence. “We are proud to be working with Elbit Systems to lay the groundwork for state-of-the-art, local production in Germany in order to strengthen European defense capabilities in the long term.”
Marian Rachow, Chief Executive Officer of Elbit Systems Deutschland, said the partners intended to offer the system to several countries. “This demonstration marks another milestone for the SkyStriker in Europe and on the path to German production.”
The companies said SkyStriker is already operational in several countries, although they did not identify the users. The system is being positioned for growing European demand for autonomous reconnaissance and strike capabilities.
Under the partnership, Elbit Systems will lead strategic market development. Diehl Defence will be responsible for manufacturing, assembly, integration and qualification in Germany if the partners receive programme awards.
