By Defence Industry Europe

The Hungarian Ministry of Defence and EDGE, a leading global defence technology group, have signed a letter of intent (LOI) to collaborate on defence innovation and research. The agreement was formalised during a visit to the United Arab Emirates by Hungary’s Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán.

The document outlines plans for cooperation in advanced defence technologies and paves the way for potential multi-million-euro deals between EDGE and its entities. The agreement highlights Hungary’s interest in EDGE’s defence solutions and its commitment to enhancing military capabilities through innovation.

A signing ceremony took place in Abu Dhabi, attended by Hungary’s Prime Minister, the Hungarian Minister of Defence, and senior executives from EDGE. The event marks a key moment in strengthening bilateral relations and deepening defence cooperation between Hungary and the UAE.

Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director & CEO of EDGE, described the agreement as a major step in the company’s engagement with NATO member states. He emphasised EDGE’s commitment to advancing defence capabilities and announced that CARACAL sniper rifles would be supplied to the Hungarian Defence Forces for the first time.
