Elbit Systems has won a contract worth approximately $235 million to supply PULS rocket artillery systems and EXTRA-MR guided rockets to an undisclosed European country. Deliveries and associated work will take place over three years.

The order falls under a government-to-government agreement between Israel’s Ministry of Defense and the customer’s defence ministry. It includes additional rocket-artillery platforms and integrated logistics support.

Precision strikes at up to 80 kilometres

EXTRA-MR is the medium-range version of Elbit’s EXTRA supersonic rocket system. The company says it is designed to engage high-value targets at distances of up to 80 kilometres.

The rockets are compatible with Elbit’s Precise & Universal Launching System, known as PULS. They can also integrate with existing command, control, communications, computers and intelligence systems.

“This contract award further strengthens Elbit Systems’ position as a global leader in rocket artillery systems and reflects the growing international demand for our advanced rocket and launcher capabilities,” said Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis, Elbit’s president and chief executive. “The PULS systems and precision rocket solutions are recognized among the leading systems in their category and have been selected by a growing number of customers worldwide, including European and NATO member states.”

Elbit did not disclose how many launchers or rockets the customer ordered. The announcement identifies the buyer only as a European country.
