This latest contract amendment aligns with the global order of Aster munitions contracted by OCCAR-EA for both France and Italy in December 2022, underscoring a continued effort to bolster air defence capabilities amidst growing global threats. The amendment specifically covers the production of Aster 30 B1 ground and Aster 30 B1NT ground and naval missiles for the Italy.
Additionally, this amendment marks the commencement of production activities for the SAMP/T NG ground systems. As part of this initiative, Eurosam will produce four SAMP/T NG sections for the Italian Army and undertake supplementary activities for France, paving the way for the future full serial production of SAMP/T NG sections for the French Air Force. This move represents a significant step forward in the renewal of European Medium-Range Air-Defence Ground capabilities, building on the momentum of the SAMP/T NG development launched by France and Italy in 2021.
The contract amendment also includes the procurement of additional equipment for the United Kingdom for the Mid-Life Update (MLU) Aster production, which has been ongoing since 2021 for the three nations. The first deliveries for France and Italy were completed in December 2023, signifying progress in the MLU Aster production efforts.
