By Defence Industry Europe

Finland has confirmed the delivery of its 26th defence materiel assistance package to Ukraine. The decision was made on 5 December 2024 by the President of the Republic, following a proposal from the Government.

The latest package includes winter equipment for Ukrainian troops, among other undisclosed items. According to Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen, “Finland has now delivered defence materiel to Ukraine to a total value of EUR 2.3 billion. This time the package contains winter equipment for Ukrainian troops, for example. Finland is one of Ukraine’s strongest supporters, and we have no plans to change that.”

Replacing the defence capabilities provided in this package will cost Finland an estimated EUR 25 million. Meanwhile, preparations are already underway for the next assistance package, expected to be delivered early next year.

For security and operational reasons, specific details about the contents, delivery method, or timeline of the assistance remain confidential. Finnish authorities emphasised that both Ukraine’s immediate needs and Finland’s own defence resources were carefully considered in making this decision.
