First two launchers of IRIS-T SLS air defence system delivered to Ukraine

The German government has delivered the first two launchers of the IRIS-T SLS air defence system to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This system, with a range of 12 km, is manufactured by the German defence company Diehl Defence.

The IRIS-T SLS air defence system is designed to protect ground troops near the frontline and critical objects such as military bases or energy infrastructure. Capable of shooting down cruise missiles, drones, aircraft, and helicopters, the effectors of this air defence system can hit targets at altitudes of up to 8km and distances of up to 12km.

 

 

As reported by Defence Industry Europe, the German government previously delivered two IRIS-T SLM air defence systems, two HENSOLDT TRML-4D air surveillance  radars, and an additional batch of unspecified IRIS-T SLM missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
