The joint venture held the ceremony on 4 November, with preliminary site works already under way. Established in September 2025, HWBAS is owned 51% by Hanwha Aerospace and 49% by WB Electronics, a WB Group subsidiary.
A consortium led by HWBAS signed an agreement with Poland’s Armament Agency in December 2025 to supply CGR080 missiles to be manufactured in Poland. The factory will provide the production infrastructure, while a licence agreement with Hanwha Aerospace establishes the framework for domestic manufacturing.
“As a Polish company, our task is to build the capability to manufacture here in Poland,” said Jin Cheol Jeon, chief executive of HWBAS. “That means developing not only the plant, but also the production processes and the team able to translate technology into day-to-day manufacturing operations.”

The project combines technology and engineering transfer with the development of manufacturing expertise in Poland. It also encompasses maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities throughout the systems’ life cycle, with a locally based supply chain intended to support long-term operations.
Developed in cooperation with Poland’s Ministry of National Defence and Armament Agency, the investment is intended to strengthen domestic missile production and help build the country’s stockpile. Those capabilities are also intended to sustain the HOMAR-K programme and its operational readiness.
“We are proud that, through the partnership between WB GROUP and Hanwha Aerospace, Gorzów Wielkopolski will become home to Poland’s first facility of this kind, dedicated to the production of advanced missile systems for the artillery units of the Polish Armed Forces,” said Piotr Wojciechowski, president of WB Group. “We would also like to express our particular appreciation to the local authorities, whose continued support and engagement have been instrumental in bringing this investment forward.”
HWBAS is working with Gorzów Wielkopolski’s CEZiB vocational education institution to prepare workers for the plant. A letter of intent covers internships, apprenticeships, workshops and cooperation on curriculum development.
“Together with WB GROUP and HWBAS, we aim to combine licensed technology and production know-how with the expertise and manufacturing capability being developed in Poland,” said Billy Boo-hwan Lee, chief executive of Hanwha Aerospace. “Our ambition is to build a sustainable production base that brings together local infrastructure, skilled teams and established industrial processes.”
The immediate task is to prepare the facilities, production processes and workforce for manufacturing in Poland. Longer term, the partners see that production base as a foundation for exploring opportunities in other European markets.
