Heckler & Koch secures contract to supply new sniper rifle to German Armed Forces

By Defence Industry Europe

Heckler & Koch, a renowned German firearms manufacturer based in Oberndorf am Neckar, has been awarded a contract to supply the Bundeswehr with the new semi-automatic sniper rifle G210.

The decision follows a competitive procurement process in which Heckler & Koch’s MR308A6 model was selected. The G210 is a short-range sniper rifle chambered in the well-established 7.62 mm x 51 calibre. Up to 500 units are scheduled for delivery to the Bundeswehr’s special forces in 2025.

The MR308A6 was specifically developed by Heckler & Koch for this tender and was publicly unveiled at the EnforceTac trade fair in February this year. The rifle introduces a precision cartridge in the 7.62 mm x 51 calibre. The semi-automatic, gas-operated rifle weighs approximately 4.4 kg without a magazine and features improved handling comfort with a redesigned charging handle positioned on the side of the weapon.

Dr.-Ing. Jens Bodo Koch, CEO of Heckler & Koch, and Marco Geißinger, Head of Sales, expressed their satisfaction with the contract at the signing ceremony. “We at Heckler & Koch are proud to be a supplier to the Bundeswehr’s special forces. The spearhead of the Bundeswehr deserves the best weapons in the world, and that is what Heckler & Koch stands for. Following the recent order for the HK437 .300BLK designated as G39 SD, the MR308A6 as G210 marks the next product innovation from our company,” said Koch.
