Israel deploys special weapons in effort to eliminate Hamas tunnels in Gaza

By Arie Egozi

Israel is using special weapons in an effort to destroy tunnels constructed by the Hamas organization beneath Gaza. This network of underground tunnels, referred to as "Metro City" by the IDF, primarily serves as a hiding place for the Hamas leadership, which the IDF has been attempting to target since the beginning of the conflict.

These tunnels also facilitate the movement of people and supplies, the storage of rockets and ammunition depots, and the housing of Hamas command and control centers. All of these activities occur beyond the reach of IDF surveillance, armed drones, and aircraft.

Standard bombs employed by the Israeli air force lack the capability to obliterate these tunnels. While recent air-dropped bombs have struck some tunnel entrances in the past few days, Israeli sources contend that such actions are insufficient.

Details on the special weapons remain undisclosed, but sources suggest they generate underground shock waves aimed at damaging the tunnels.

Israeli sources have confirmed that as the war persists, certain weapon systems developed in Israel have been deployed for the first time. These systems reportedly involve ground-to-ground rockets and new armaments carried by armed drones.
