Israel has received its second Boeing KC-46A Giedon tanker, advancing a U.S.-funded plan to replace its KC-707 aerial refueling fleet. The aircraft joins the first KC-46A delivered on May 27 and is part of a six-aircraft order.

Israel ordered four KC-46A Pegasus aircraft in 2022 and two more in 2025 through the U.S. Foreign Military Financing program. Boeing may ultimately receive Israeli orders for up to eight aircraft.

The KC-46As will replace the Boeing KC-707 tankers now operated by the Israeli Air Force. Those aircraft have been used extensively in recent years to support airstrikes across the Middle East.

The tanker modernization project relies on the U.S. Foreign Military Financing program. Israel is its largest recipient, and most funding for the country’s U.S. defense purchases comes from American military assistance.

Israel is the second export customer for the KC-46A Pegasus. Boeing has delivered more than 100 aircraft to the U.S. Air Force and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.

Those aircraft have accumulated more than 150,000 flight hours. The U.S. State Department also recently approved the possible sale of four KC-46As to Qatar.
