Kalashnikov Group introduces new KUB-10E loitering munition system

By Defence Industry Europe

The Russian defence company Kalashnikov Group has announced the successful first flight of its latest loitering munition system, the KUB-10E. The system, which is launched using a catapult mechanism, is part of the company's expanding line of unmanned aerial weapons, though detailed specifications such as range, payload, and warhead type have not been disclosed.

According to Kalashnikov, the KUB-10E is designed to target a wide range of battlefield assets. These include light vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, command centres, missile defence sites, communication and jamming facilities, as well as logistic hubs, field storage depots, and unsheltered aircraft at airfields.

The system is capable of operating day or night and in various weather conditions, including wind gusts up to 15 metres per second. It is designed to function in temperatures ranging from -30°C to +40°C at ground level. With a cruising speed of 100 km/h and an operational altitude range of 100 to 2,500 metres, the KUB-10E is guided by pre-determined coordinates and data from global navigation satellite systems (GNSS).

Kalashnikov stated that the KUB-10E offers a longer range and greater payload capacity compared to its predecessors. This development follows the reported use of the KUB family of loitering munitions during the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The company also revealed that production of its loitering munitions has nearly tripled to meet growing demand.
