KNDS reports record EUR 11.2 billion in defence orders and strong sales growth in 2024

Franco-German defence group KNDS has announced record financial results for 2024, marking the second consecutive year of all-time high performance. The company reported an order intake of €11.2 billion, representing an increase of more than 40% compared to the previous year.

This strong growth was driven by major national and international programmes, including the LEOPARD 2 A8, SERVAL for France, the RCH 155 howitzer system for Ukraine, CAESAR export contracts, the BOXER for Lithuania, and other SCORPION vehicles. Orders for ammunition and support services also increased significantly.

At the end of 2024, KNDS’ order backlog reached €23.5 billion, a 15% rise over 2023. The group attributes this momentum to its ability to deliver tailored solutions, especially in the “Weapons & Ammunition” sector.

According to the company, this success is due in part to the combined strengths of the Franco-German alliance. “The strong momentum in Europe continues, thanks to the KNDS Group’s ability to provide its customers with solutions tailored to their needs, particularly with the ‘Weapons & Ammunition’ pairing, which benefits from the complementary nature of the Franco-German offering,” the press release stated.

KNDS also reported sales of €3.8 billion in 2024. All business units contributed to this strong organic growth, which delivered profitability in line with industry expectations.

The increase in revenue was mainly driven by deliveries of LEOPARD 2 Main Battle Tanks, the GRIFFON, SERVAL, and JAGUAR vehicles under the SCORPION programme, and the BOXER system for international clients. Additional contributions came from the Leclerc upgrade programme and ammunition deliveries.

KNDS expanded its workforce significantly in 2024, with nearly 1,000 new hires. The company’s total headcount now exceeds 10,000 and is expected to reach 11,000 during 2025.

Looking ahead, KNDS plans to strengthen its industrial presence across Europe and deepen cooperation with partners. “In 2025, the Group aims to continue contributing significantly to the necessary increase of the interoperable capabilities of the European armies by strengthening its industrial foothold in Europe and by further industrial cooperation with its partners in Europe and Ukraine,” the company stated.
