The Land Cruise Missile integrates the already proven Naval Cruise Missile with a land launcher. MBDA said this offers a sovereign capability that can be made available within a short timescale.
The NCM-LCM MK2 has a range of more than 1,000 kilometres. MBDA said the missile benefits from four main operational advantages.
The system has enhanced capabilities for operating in jammed environments through a new-generation anti-jamming device. It also offers improved survivability through better stealth and improved flight performance.
MBDA said the missile also provides increased range and lethality. The company said LCM users will benefit from the latest technologies addressing the specific requirements of ground-to-ground missiles.
A first launch system, known as the Ground Launch System, is being developed for availability from 2029. MBDA said it is based on the existing Naval Cruise Missile launch system.
The LCM is designed to be mobile and operational from unprepared positions. MBDA said it can be deployed in battery in less than 15 minutes.
The system will have four missiles ready to fire and already loaded onboard. MBDA said the NCM-LCM MK2 is open to European cooperation.
The company described the system as a flagship innovation. It is being presented at Eurosatory as part of MBDA’s portfolio of long-range strike capabilities.
