The agreement was signed on 15 June at Eurosatory 2026 in Paris. It was signed by Lieutenant General Jari Mikkonen, the Finnish Defence Forces Deputy Chief of Staff for Armaments and Logistics, and Brigadier General Jonas Lotsne, Director of the Land Systems Department of the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration.
Patria TRACKX has been developed as part of the multinational FAMOUS programme. The programme is co-funded by the European Defence Fund.
The tracked armoured personnel carrier has been designed to provide ballistic protection, high road mobility and effective operation in demanding environments. These include soft terrain, deep snow, marshes and desert sand dunes.
Patria said TRACKX combines features of wheeled and traditional tracked vehicles. The company said the platform is intended to provide operational freedom to manoeuvre across seasons, terrain and conditions.
“We at Patria are very pleased to see strong interest in Patria TRACKX from Finland and Sweden, where demanding and Arctic conditions set high requirements that the vehicle is well suited to meet. TRACKX is a versatile tracked vehicle designed to operate efficiently in all conditions, combining excellent off-road mobility, situational awareness, a sufficient level of protection and exceptional operational range,” said Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Protected Mobility business area.
“Our objective is to bring the tracked vehicle into serial production as early as 2027,” Järvinen said. Patria said the vehicle has already met the high-performance requirements set by countries participating in the FAMOUS programme.
“The vehicle has already met the high-performance requirements set by the countries participating in the FAMOUS programme, and we expect strong interest in the common tracked vehicle platform, similarly to what we have seen in the multinational Patria 6×6-based CAVS programme,” Järvinen said.
“Going forward, cooperation between multiple countries ‒ and the resulting joint TRACKX procurements ‒ will reduce cost levels, improve security of supply, and increase the interoperability of the fleet,” Järvinen said. Patria said the platform is of particular interest to Finland and Sweden for improving the mobility of land forces in Arctic conditions.
The vehicle is also intended for other land forces units that require high mobility in challenging terrain. The Implementation Arrangement enables the exchange of information related to TRACKX during the pre-series procurement phase.
Finland and Sweden will make national decisions on whether to procure pre-series vehicles. Each country will also conduct its own assessment of the vehicle’s suitability for operational use and potential follow-on procurement within its armed forces.
