KNDS to supply new tank simulators to Swedish Armed Forces

By Defence Industry Europe

The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has signed a contract with KNDS Germany (KMW) for advanced main battle tank simulators. These simulators are designed for the Stridsvagn 122 tanks, an improved variant of the Leopard 2A5.

The new simulators will enable comprehensive training for complete tank crews, including commanders, gunners, drivers, and loaders.

Claes Hallbäcken, FMV’s project manager, emphasized that this project significantly strengthens Sweden’s defense capabilities, marking a substantial advancement in their training and development.

The FMV announcement stated that KNDS Germany would deliver the Stridsvagn 122 tank simulators by 2029.

KNDS Germany collaborates with W5 Solutions, a local defence and technology firm in Sweden, to provide service and support for the tank simulators used by the Swedish Armed Forces.
