The agreement covers launcher units, weapon control systems and ancillary equipment, along with production and sustainment support. Kongsberg said it would announce significant orders when the Marine Corps makes call-offs under the framework.
The potential $404 million value does not mean the full amount has been ordered. The size of Kongsberg’s confirmed business under the agreement will depend on subsequent call-offs.
Kongsberg says the Naval Strike Missile can be launched from different platforms against targets at sea and on land. It describes the weapon as a passive, sea-skimming missile with a range of more than 300 kilometres and a seeker designed to recognise its intended target.
