L3Harris secures record $4.7 billion PAC-3 MSE propulsion deal from Lockheed Martin to expand U.S. interceptor production capacity

L3Harris Technologies has received an undefinitized contract from Lockheed Martin valued at $4.7 billion over seven years. The award covers propulsion systems for PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement interceptors and is L3Harris’ largest PAC-3 contract to date.

The agreement supports a long-term expansion of production for one of the U.S. military’s key air and missile defense interceptors. It also aligns with a broader framework established with the Department of War to increase critical munitions output.

L3Harris will produce the interceptor’s advanced two-pulse solid rocket motor, Lethality Enhancer and Attitude Control Motors. The contract provides a multi-year production horizon for these components as Lockheed Martin increases PAC-3 MSE output.

“Receiving this contract at unparalleled speed allows us to continue expanding PAC-3 propulsion production capacity to enable a wartime footing,” said Ken Bedingfield, president of Missile Solutions at L3Harris. “Supporting America’s Arsenal of Freedom and ensuring warfighters have the munitions needed to deter and defeat evolving threats will continue to be our priority.”

The award follows the start of work on two new PAC-3 MSE facilities at L3Harris’ propulsion site in Camden, Arkansas. The company broke ground in June, with both plants scheduled to begin operating in 2027.

The facilities are designed to increase production capacity and improve throughput at the Camden complex. They will also modernize solid rocket motor manufacturing and build on earlier investments in dedicated production bays and automated digital X-ray equipment.

L3Harris is investing billions of dollars across its U.S. propulsion manufacturing network to support higher munitions output. The program includes about 60 new facilities and more than one million square feet of additional manufacturing space in Arkansas, Alabama and Virginia.

The seven-year award connects Lockheed Martin’s PAC-3 MSE production requirements with L3Harris’ wider expansion of rocket motor capacity. It also gives the propulsion supplier a larger role in efforts to increase the depth and resilience of the U.S. missile industrial base.
