The company will fulfill the order at its new 60,000-square-foot Arsenal of Freedom facility in Camden, Arkansas, scheduled to open later this year. The plant will bring production together and use automation and robotics to streamline solid rocket motor manufacturing.
“Securing this follow-on award at the highest quantity in program history demonstrates confidence in L3Harris’ missile propulsion expertise and our ability to deliver at scale,” said Scott Alexander, president of Propulsion Systems, Missile Solutions at L3Harris. “With our investments to expand capacity ahead of need, we’re well‑positioned to meet this surge while maintaining the quality our customers expect.”
L3Harris said it has doubled GMLRS solid rocket motor output in recent years through advances in manufacturing techniques and processes. The increase has expanded capacity to supply the United States and allied partners.
The company has produced GMLRS propulsion units for decades as the program’s solid rocket motor supplier. It also manufactures the system’s electronic safe-and-arm device and proximity sensor.
