The IFPC Inc 2 system is the Army’s newest mobile, ground-based air defense platform. It is designed to protect against threats such as cruise missiles and unmanned aerial systems.
Leidos has committed to delivering more than 100 launchers under the current contracts. The funding also supports ongoing research, development and testing, with additional orders expected through 2029.
Dino Pusinsky, Vice President of the IFPC Inc 2 product area at Leidos, said: “These awards reflect the Army’s confidence in our team and the growing demand for a proven defense system that’s available today.” He added: “We’re working with our Army and industry partners to apply innovative manufacturing and engineering strategies that ensure this capability is ready when and where it’s needed, while building resiliency and capacity across the supply chain to support sustained, scalable production.”
The company said the contracts mark progress toward full-rate production of the system. They also support the Army’s broader effort to field the capability at scale.
Leidos previously delivered the first IFPC Inc 2 Initial Operational Test and Evaluation launcher ahead of schedule. The milestone highlighted the company’s execution in air and missile defense programs.
The IFPC Inc 2 system is built on an open architecture to allow integration of current and future interceptors. It is designed to provide flexible and scalable protection within the Army’s layered air and missile defense network.
The platform integrates with existing command-and-control systems and is compatible with Army transport vehicles. Its modular design enables adaptation to evolving threats and emerging technologies.
