“Continuity of the assistance to Ukraine is our strategic objective. The weaponry and equipment we and the Allies transfer is a critical factor in Ukraine’s fight for independence and for security of the whole Europe. We will assist Ukraine for as long as necessary,” Lithuanian Minister of National Defence Laurynas Kasčiūnas said.
Lithuania responded to Ukraine’s request and sent 155mm ammunition in early March, also, a decision was taken to contribute 35 million euros to the multinational Ammunition Initiative of the Czech Republic for purchasing and delivering ammo to the war-torn country.
The assistance the Ministry of National Defence has rendered Ukraine to date includes different types of weaponry, ammunition, UAVs, anti-drone equipment, training assistance repair of heavy equipment and every other kind of assistance Ukraine requests.
Lithuania has approved a long-term plan for assistance to Ukraine, a EUR 200 million package for new procurement for Ukraine is planned in 2024-2026. Since the war was started, Lithuania has already rendered approx. EUR 605 million worth of military assistance.
