NATO Multinational Battle Group in Lithuania conducts first live fire training with Puma vehicles

By Defence Industry Europe

The NATO Multinational Battle Group Lithuania (MN BG LTU) conducted its first live fire training with Puma Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs) as part of a field training exercise from 3-7 March. The exercise took place at the Generas Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area and focused on manoeuvre and combat support synchronisation in a realistic combat operational environment.

The training involved NATO units practising movement, overcoming obstacles with bridge-layers, and executing defensive tasks. The final phase of the exercise included a Level 5 live fire event, where Leopard 2 battle tanks, Puma IFVs, and PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery systems engaged stationary and moving targets, simulating realistic battlefield conditions.

Senior military officials from the Lithuanian Armed Forces, along with unit commanders, senior enlisted leaders, ambassadors, and military representatives from MN BG LTU contributing nations, attended the event. The exercise provided an opportunity for sharing best practices and enhancing operational coordination among NATO forces stationed in Lithuania.
