The ten ambulance vehicles are part of a wider government-to-government agreement signed in 2022. The agreement was concluded by the Government of the Slovak Republic, the Government of Finland and Patria.
The deal covers Slovakia’s acquisition of 76 armoured combat vehicles. The package comprises 60 infantry fighting vehicles, 10 ambulance vehicles and six command post vehicles.
“Patria is thankful of excellent cooperation with Slovakia, their BOV 8×8 armoured vehicle programme and local partners. The completion of these ambulance vehicle deliveries is an important milestone in this cooperation. The programme supports the development of modern mobility and defence capabilities while also advancing technology transfer and know-how to Slovakia, strengthening local industrial capability, security of supply and long-term readiness,” said Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Protected Mobility business area.
Patria said technology transfer is a central part of its business model. The approach involves transferring armoured vehicle manufacturing expertise to local partners.
The company said this improves security of supply and strengthens Slovakia’s domestic industry. Patria also said it provides a strategic competitive advantage.
The Patria AMV XP 8×8 is described by the company as a market-leading, state-of-the-art, modular and robust armoured vehicle. Patria said the vehicle provides firepower, protection and mobility.
