The sensor network will cover a large area and support rapid operational deployment. Patria did not disclose the contract value or delivery schedule.
MUSCL is a transportable system that detects, tracks and reports aerial targets in real time. It supports air surveillance, early warning and counter-unmanned aircraft system missions.
The radar uses existing transmissions in the surrounding electromagnetic environment. It does not emit signals of its own, allowing operators to monitor airspace without revealing the system’s position.

Patria MUSCL delivers a unique combination of covert surveillance, operational flexibility and cost-effective performance,” said Mikko Leino, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Defence and Weapon Systems business area.
Patria said European demand for passive radar is growing as armed forces expand air-defence and counter-drone capabilities. The company has more than 30 years of experience in passive radio-frequency sensors for intelligence, surveillance and electronic countermeasures.
Patria will demonstrate MUSCL during the Electronic Warfare Live 2026 event in Estonia from 15 to 17 September. MUSCL and the CATCHR electronic support measures system will monitor airspace over Estonia and southern Finland without transmitting their own signals.
