RSGS will conduct the work with Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, its Israeli parent company. The companies will tailor the weapon and add capabilities intended for U.S. close-combat units.
SPIKE SR is a lightweight, man-portable, electro-optically guided missile designed for dismounted forces. Its fire-and-forget operation is intended to give small units a rapidly deployable precision-strike capability in complex and contested environments.
The programme draws on the wider SPIKE family, which is used by 46 countries, including 22 NATO members. RSGS said that operational record would support the qualification of a version aligned with American military needs.
“This award represents an important step in advancing the SPIKE SR capability for U.S. warfighters,” said retired Lt. Gen. Joe Anderson, chief executive officer of RSGS. “RSGS is proud to support the U.S. defense community by enhancing a proven, highly mobile precision missile system that addresses the operational needs of today’s close-combat forces.”
The agreement also covers further work on advanced capabilities beyond baseline qualification. RSGS said the objective was to deliver a qualified precision-strike system for manoeuvring forces while retaining the missile’s compact form and ease of use.
“SPIKE SR offers the type of lightweight, accurate, and soldier-portable capability that modern forces require,” Anderson said. “This effort reinforces RSGS’ commitment to delivering combat-proven technologies adapted to meet U.S. requirements.”
RSGS is a U.S.-based subsidiary focused on integrating and sustaining Rafael technology for American military customers. Its work includes adaptation, fielding and lifecycle support for systems configured around U.S. operational requirements.
